RAMALLAH, August 27, 2013 (WAFA) – The murder of three Palestinians by Israeli forces in the Qalandia refugee camp Tuesday dominated the front pages and headlines of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida’s front page headline read: “The occupation commits its crime under the cover of darkness. Three martyrs and 24 injuries in Qalandia.”
The three papers printed photos of Palestinians participating in the funerals of the three Palestinians who were killed in Qalandia.
Al-Ayyam reported on a number of injuries and arrests in clashes that broke out across the West Bank to protest Qalandia’s assault.
Meanwhile, al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted UNRWA’s condemnation of the murder of one of the three Palestinians in Qalandia, who happens to be an UNRWA employee, saying that he is a father of four who was killed while heading to work and was not involved in any violent acts.
Al-Quds featured US State department’s denying canceling Palestinian-Israeli peace talks after the clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers in the west Bank.
Al-Ayyam reported on the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil Fahmi’s visit to Ramallah, during which he affirmed that the Palestinian cause is a priority and Egypt will continue to offer full support despite of its concerns.
Al-Quds covered the ongoing illegal settlement activities as Israel works to lay the foundation stone for an outpost on the land of Kufr Deek and Deir Balout in Salfit.
It also said that Israel has approved a budget for the construction of 1500 settlement units on the land of Shufat, north of Jerusalem.
Al-Ayyam featured the United Nations’ investigations near Damascus regarding a potential use of chemical gas allegedly by the Syrian regime amid western calls to discuss a military intervention.
