RAMALLAH, March 17, 2014 (WAFA) – Thousands of Palestinians rallied throughout the West Bank Monday in support of President Mahmoud Abbas’ positions adhering to the Palestinian national rights.
Abbas is scheduled to meet the U.S. President Barack Obama later today to discuss a new framework agreement to extend the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations beyond the April 29 deadline.
Thousands of supporters gathered in al-Manarah Square in Ramallah in support of Abbas and waved Palestinian flags and slogans supporting him.
Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, who participated in the event, said: “We are here today to affirm our support to President Abbas’ efforts and endeavors to find a solution to our just cause, leading to the end of occupation and the establishment of the state of Palestine within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
Among the participants were faction leaders, youths, school students and others.
Meanwhile in Jenin, Abbas supports marched through a main street before they gathered in Abu Ammar square near the Jenin Governorate headquarters. Participants waved pictures of Abbas and late president Yasser Arafat as well as waved supportive slogans.
Abbas supporters in Qalqilya also participated in a rally to support Abbas, stressing their refusal to “pressures” on the Palestinian leadership.
