Several Palestinians Suffocate during Bethlehem Clashes

BETHLEHEM, July 14, 2016 (WAFA) – Several Palestinians Thursday overnight suffocated during clashes that erupted as Israeli forces raided Bethlehem city in the southern West Bank, said security sources and an activist.

Israeli forces raided the Bethlehem neighborhoods of Jabal al-Mawalih and al-Karkafeh, storming and ransacking the family houses of Nedal Zawaha and Hamza Zawahra, both former detainees, triggering clashes.

Troops showered locals with tear gas canisters, causing several to suffocate.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Salah, who monitors the construction of settlement construction in the Bethlehem town of al-Khader, said forces also raided Bethlehem’s Old Town, where they cordoned off and thoroughly searched the family house of Ahmad al-Qaisi, who is held in Israeli detention.

None Palestinian was reportedly detained during the raid.
