LONDON, September 24, 2014 (WAFA) – The British Labor Party renewed on Wednesday their support to recognizing an independent state of Palestine, saying such a step is a natural and legitimate right for the Palestinian people.

Nabil Shaath, member of the central committee of Fatah, said on the sideline of the Labour Party’s annual conference that party’s officials had expressed their full commitment to support the Palestinian people’s illegitimate right to establish a statehood based on the 1967 borders, as well as expressed their commitment toward supporting the political track of Palestinians to help them achieve their right to self determination.

Shaath said opinion polls indicate a higher chance for the party to win the upcoming British elections, set for May 2015, raising the potential for recognizing an independent Palestinian state. He added that the House of Commons will submit a parliamentary list to urge the British government to recognize the state of Palestine.
