JERICHO, January 28, 2013 (WAFA) – PLO Executive committee member Saeb Erekat Monday said that peace requirements will remain the same regardless of the nature of the next coalition of the Israeli government.
Erekat said, during separate meetings with the Quartet’s Envoy Tony Blair and the French Consul General Frederic Dasagnius in Jericho, that freezing settlement activities including in East Jerusalem and releasing Palestinian detainees who were detained before 1994 are considered important keys to achieve peace.
Erekat affirmed that the PLO would not allow adopting the same policies which viewed negotiations as a goal, while the Palestinians see it as a tool to achieve their goal.
He said that the Palestinian vote at the United Nations supports the international law which defines the goal of the peace process with the withdrawal of Israeli forces to the boarders of 1967.
